Blog a Lodge - Spey Cottage

Hi Everyone

This week we are looking at Spey Cottage our only Saturday to Saturday property

Spey Cottage is located in Aviemore at the south end of the Village not far from The Old Bridge Inn.

It is handily located just off the main street of the Village also only a few hundred yards from the Railway Station for those of you who want or have to not come by car.

Spey Cottage has 4 bedroom. 1 x King Size, 1 Double a upstairs twin and a smaller room downstairs which is set as a single but can be made into a smaller twin also, so the cottage can sleep up to 8 and is pet friendly.

It is just off the banks of the river Spey and is also well located for the Rothiemurchus Estate which includes the Fantastic Tree zone and also the Fish farm for those of you who want a higher chance of catching more than just a cold!!

The decking at Spey is a well used area with guests loving to sit and have there breakfast or morning coffee while gazing up to the Cairngorm Mountains, catching a glimpse of the Osprey's looking to feed at the fish farm or even the odd Squirrel darting along the bannister of the decking to get around.

Spey is great base for visiting all the local attractions from the Wildlife Park in Kincraig, Landmark in Carrbridge, Osprey Centre at Loch Garten and much much more.

It is great start for cycling around the area with it being close to Rothiemurchus Estate and Loch Morlich where you can enjoy the beach side for lazing about or getting on the water.

Spey Cottage runs Saturday to Saturday to get more info on availability please call the Office on 01479 812266.

Thistle Cottage in Aviemore

Hi All

The Owner today for Thistle Cottage has been on and she has given the cottage a Spring Makeover

This 2 bedroom cottage at the North end of Aviemore just off the Dalfaber Country Club has two double rooms sleeping 4 and an outdoor hot tub.

It is situated in a wee cul de sac but only a 10 minute walk to the main street for all the Bars, Restaurants etc.
It has a secure garden and is pet friendly.

The Owner has installed a new Miele Hob and also in the Kitchen has sanded the work tops and re-oiled them 3 times.

In the Bedrooms she has also replaced both the Mattress's and for the Occasion snug use she has sourced 2 replacement mattresses for the pull down beds. We always advice Thistle is more suitable for 4 but if you have an extra person for the night this can be accommodated in this Cottage.

The Owner has also done some work in the Bathroom and sanded down the main wall and re painted it.

The Outside has not been missed out with the Outside Windows being given a lick of paint and a general tidy up of the Outside area after the Winter period.

All in all its what we like here in the Office a good Spring makeover ready for the busy Summer Period

We still have some weekends available in May over the next few Bank Holidays and have just released a couple of June Apex offers and have good availability for the Summer weeks

So give us a call and we can look to get you booked in, Availability for Thistle can be viewed Here

With the Owner of Thistle also Owning Outdoor Discovery there can be an amazing Summer awaiting you at this Cottage..

Blog a Lodge is Back - Twa Hoots Lodge

Hi All

As we gear up for the Summer, I am looking at our Lodges again

This  month we are looking at Twa Hoots Lodge, in Aviemore

One of our smallest properties.Detached Scandinavian style pine lined chalet
Sleeps up to 4 with One double, One bunk room
Shower room, Dining area, Large veranda and Pet friendly

The cabin sits in a small enclave with five other chalets, 2 minute's walk to the quaint Bridge Inn where good food and a well-deserved dram can be obtained in the company of other like minded people. A further short stretch of the legs takes you into the heart of Aviemore.

If you head tho other way a short ten minute walk will take you to Rothiemurchus Estate
were you can do Archery, Wildlife Photography and Bush Craft. However for those that enjoy something slightly more exhilarating we have Pony Trekking, Safaris by Land Rover or Quad Bike Trekking and also a short drive to the Cairngorm Mountain for Winter or Summer sports.

Twa Hoots is well located for the Village and is a short distance to all local eateries and pubs, but you are far enough away to ensure you don't hear the hustle and bustle of a busy village.

Twa Hoots has been enjoyed by many a family and will continue to be a great location for a Highland family holiday. With Summer prices from £469 for 7 nights this Lodge provides great value for money and is well situated to enjoy the Highlands at its best.

Birchwood Lodge

Hi All, Well the weather is certainly keeping us guessing, from snowfall with great skiing to lovely spring days like the weather today

Birchwood Lodge is in the small village of Kincraig, Kincraig and its neighbouring communities of Alvie, Insh and Feshiebridge lie at the heart of the Scottish Highlands within the Cairngorm National Park. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty containing some of Scotland’s most treasured landscapes and rare wildlife.

Birchwood Lodge has 5 bedrooms and can sleep up 12, with an Outdoor Hot Tub, Log Stove and stunning finish this really is one of the perfect family gathering points.

Kincraig is situated perfectly 6 miles south of Aviemore and 6 miles north of Kingussie, Kincraig is home to the Kincraig Wildlife Park run by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland where visitors can discover Scotland's wildlife as well as endangered animals of the world's mountain and tundra regions. Home to Polar Bear, Arctic Fox , Armur Tiger and much much much more. Birchwood is only a few miles from Loch Insh Watersports Centre where you can Windsurfing, Sailing, Kayaking and again much much more or even if you just fancy a meal in the Boathouse Restaurant On the shores of Loch Insh, recently voted one of the top five views from any restaurant in Europe.

Kincraig is perfectly situated for a variety of sports from golf, gliding, canoeing, clay pigeon shooting and of course mountain bike trekking. No visit to this area would not be complete with out going to Alvie Estate and really enjoying the Highlands at its best.

All of this and only 6 miles from Aviemore where you can come in and enjoy the rest of what the area has to offer, for more information on this Lodge or other please call the Office on 01479 812266 or email us at gnl@greatnorthlodges.co.uk.
